For a few years brands like Clinique and Vichy have been investing heavily in the production and refinement of vitamin C. The trend? Let us assume the role of understanding the purpose and benefits of the vitamin.
The laboratory-known ascorbic acid is a molecule used in the hydroxylation of various biochemical reactions in cells. Its main function is the hydroxylation of collagen, the fibrillar protein that gives resistance to the bones, teeth, tendons and walls of the blood vessels.
